This small-group tour offers a thoughtful and in-depth visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site, combined with a guided walk through the historic town of Dachau itself.
Led by a certified Dachau guide from The Local Experience, this half-day experience goes beyond a standard memorial visit. Alongside the essential history of the camp, we explore Dachau as a living town — its medieval roots, artistic heritage, and present-day character — offering broader context and deeper human understanding.
The tour concludes with time for lunch in Dachau town, providing space for reflection and conversation before returning to Munich.
-
While most Dachau tours focus solely on the memorial site, this experience places the memorial within its broader historical and human context. By also exploring the town of Dachau and allowing time for reflection over a shared meal, the tour encourages deeper understanding — not only of what happened here, but of why remembrance matters today.
-
All tours are led by guides certified directly by the Dachau Memorial Site. This certification involves an intensive multi-month training program, engagement with survivor testimony, and visits to satellite sites connected to the camp system.
-
