Ever wondered how to make a proper Bavarian pretzel? Or fancied spending an evening discovering Bavaria’s food culture, enjoying local treats and sharing a traditional meal with fellow travellers?
Then roll up your sleeves, because this experience is for you!
Join The Local Experience for a fun and delicious evening that brings together traditional Bavarian baking, local food culture and one of Munich’s most famous beer halls. No cooking experience required – just bring your curiosity and appetite!
Get Your Hands Floury – The Pretzel Workshop
We’ll start our evening at A Little West Café, a cosy local café with a relaxed living-room atmosphere. Meet your fellow pretzel makers, grab a drink and settle in before meeting our local chef, who will introduce you to one of Bavaria’s most iconic culinary creations: the Brez’n!
Did you know that the Bavarian pretzel has a fascinating history and is much more than just a tasty snack? We’ll share a few stories and traditions along the way, giving you a little insight into what makes Bavarian food culture so special.
Then comes the fun part!
Under the guidance of our chef, you’ll learn how to shape your very own traditional Bavarian pretzel. You’ll prepare it for baking, choose your favourite toppings and watch it transform into a golden, freshly baked Brez’n.
Our kitchen is small and cosy, so we’ll take turns in smaller groups to make sure everyone gets hands-on time. While others are in the kitchen, you can relax, enjoy delicious Bavarian snacks, chat with your host and fellow guests and make the most of the unlimited drinks on offer.
And yes, everyone gets to make their own pretzel!
A Little Bavarian Food & Beer Culture
There’s more to Bavaria than pretzels and beer, although we certainly wouldn’t complain if that was all there was!
Throughout the evening, we’ll introduce you to some of the traditions, stories and culinary customs that make this region so unique. From the history of the humble pretzel to the importance of beer halls and traditional Bavarian food, you’ll discover a little more about the culture behind the cuisine.
You’ll also receive a small, specially prepared Bavarian recipe booklet to take home, featuring recipes that you can recreate in your own kitchen. A little taste of Munich to enjoy long after your holiday!
Dinner at the Famous Augustiner-Keller
A proper Bavarian evening wouldn’t be complete without a proper Bavarian meal!
Once everyone has finished baking, we’ll leave the café and make our way to the legendary Augustiner-Keller. Founded in 1812, it is one of Munich’s best-known traditional beer establishments and a wonderful place to experience local hospitality.
We’ll sit down together and enjoy a delicious Bavarian dinner, with traditional dishes and suitable vegetarian and vegan alternatives available.
It’s the perfect opportunity to relax, share stories, enjoy some good food and experience the atmosphere of a traditional Munich beer hall.
What Makes This Experience Special?
This isn’t a formal cooking course, and you certainly don’t need to be a Michelin-star chef!
It’s about getting involved, learning something new, meeting people and experiencing a side of Munich that goes beyond the usual sightseeing stops.
You’ll leave with a full stomach, a few new skills, your very own pretzel-making memories and recipes to try at home.
So, are you ready to become an honorary Bavarian pretzel maker for the evening?
Prost and auf die Brez’n!
